My New Year Dinner - ראש השנה וארוחת החג שלנו

  

  

Jewish New Year is a celebration of colors and flavors , it's an end as well as a beginning.It marks the end of a hot Israeli summer and where fall begins.  for me It  is, family gathering ,pomegranate, cinnamon, apples,  honey,cloves and safron.
I love cooking and baking among other things. Cooking is rooted deeply in me and in my senses, thanks to my mother . My Mother is a great cook, she is a "master" of invention and improvisation when it comes to cooking.
Cooking mums food i  only need to close my eyes and visualize my mum's body language when in the kitchen. This is how i have learned cooking,and baking. Observing.
I am a proud mum coz my daughter follows me and grandma's footstep. she is a great cook too.

Mung Bean Sprouts recepie- נבטי שעועית מאנג או מאש

Mung bean sprouts are easy to sprout at home, it is cheep and healthy.

I have for years a stack of 5 trays, specially bought for sprouting. but you can  use something similar to mine, like plastic container with wholes at the bottom tray for sprouting . Even a glass jar can serve the purpose.
what you will need is beans,a glass jar or a bowel , soak  the bean at least 8 hours or over nite. the next day cover the tray with towel and live in drake place.I wash the beans few times a day and let it drain. covered. it is important to wash and drain and cover again.
if you are using jar do the same. make sure the jar is big.

I get my sprout  ready, in less then  2 days, coz  Singapore is hot and humid.
you can then harvest your "effortless " sprouts. keep covered in the refregeratore.and enjoy.
use them for salad or as a munchies, in soup and toss them into your fried rice.

Passionfruit coconut muffins recipe - מאפינס פאסיפלורה מתכון

The market is full of this exotic fruit witch i love very much especially in my plain fresh yogurt. yesterday i decided to sacrifice some of them for my muffins.the muffins are yammy!and very easy to do. and most importend healty too.I got 20 small muffins. i love them small,2 bits and no more...here is the recipe.

Iused a cupe of 250 ml to measure.

2 large eggs

1/2 cup light brown sugar (or whit  sugar)

1/2 cup plain yogurt

100 ml canolla oil,or any cooking oil

3 big passionfruit- the pulp

1 1/2 cup self - raising flour

1/2 cup desiccated coconut(פתיתי קוקוס)

muffin pan or papare cups.

preheat oven to 175 c

* whisk eggs and sugar toghter until frothy.

*Add yoghurt and oil mix well.add pulp,coconut mix well.

* sieve and fold  in the flour and mix well.(don't mix to long you will get heavy muffins)

* fill  uo any size of muffin tray or cup 3/4.

back for a 15-20 min.depends on the size of the cups.if they are small like mine between 10-15 will be OK.the color should be golden.

store in a refrigerator or freeze them if you don't intend to eat them on the same day.
