Purim is a few days away. You can read about this great festive in the link . I'm sharing with you the most Traditional cookies recipe every one eat during the festive .It is a must have cookies for the festive. When was the last time you had a " Oznei Haman " ("Haman's ears"). Filled with nutty Poppy seeds, flavored with orange juice, honey vanilla it's the perfect festive companion for Purim "Mishloach manot" .
And the best of it ? they are legal and no side effect at all....

Poppy Seeds Hamentaschen Triangle Cookies
Make About 40 triangle
Oven : 175 C.
baking time: 15 - 20 minutes
Dough:
300 gram plain flour
1/2 Teaspoon baking powder
100gram icing sugar powder
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
200 gram cold butter
1/4 cold milk (you may need bit more)
Icing sugar for sprinkling on top after baking
Food processor (if you have one)
Filling:
100 gram sugar
150 ML milk or orange juice ( I used Orange juice it's great)
2 pickets vanilla sugar (in Israel) or substitute with good vanilla extract - 1 Teaspoon.
lemon zest. - according to taste. ( I used zest of 1/2 small lemon)
50 gram raisins ( not a must) chopped fine with knife.
150 gram ground poppy seeds (must be fresh)
100 gram honey
sieve truly twice plain flour, baking powder, icing sugar powder, Pinch of salt.
In a food processor add the above dry ingredients, add cubed cold butter, blitz them together in pulses mode to get crumbs like mixture. Add vanilla extract. add milk as needed to get soft dough but not to soft. do not over mix . remove and flatten the mix on plastic sheet, refrigerate it for two hours (can prepare it and keep over night) .
Roll the dough between two sheets of baking wax paper lightly dusted.
Cut out circles with round cookie cutter.
Put 1 teaspoon of the filling in the middle of each circle.
Fold up the sides to make a triangle. (pinch the lines)
Bake at 175 C 15 - 20 ( i used turbo mode)until light gold.
cool. dust with icing sugar.

Filing :
In small pan, add sugar, milk or orange juice. bring them to a boil. Add poppy seeds, lemon zest, raisins cook on low fire until the mixture is tick. remove and add honey. stir let it cool before using .
